Topshop is to live-stream a Virtual Reality experience of its London Fashion Week show taking place at the Tate Modern, giving fashion fans the chance to virtually view the proceedings from its landmark Oxford Circus store.
Collaborating with The London VR studio Inition, Topshop gave customers specially commissioned Virtual Reality headsets to enter the 360-degree Virtual world of a live Topshop fashion show. The headsets gave customers a hybrid of live feed of the TopShop catwalk show as well as all the backstage action. Special cameras recording the scenes were deployed on the catwalk and backstage so that each participant was able to look around at models and celebrities as part of the event.
Sir Philip Green, owner of Arcadia Group who own TopShop, said: “Although there was some sophisticated technology powering the Topshop project, our main ambition was to create a memorable, immersive experience, so we were pleased to see the theme of the overwhelming volume of press coverage and individual feedback was all about how amazing it was to be able to step inside this coveted show”.
